Hi! I'm Carla. As a 20 year veteran of the tech industry during the birth of the connected era, I found myself (ironically) completely disconnected from the things that mattered most. So, I quit my C-suite job and set my midlife crisis into motion.
Less than 35 days later, I was attending an Aspen Institute seminar on Global Leadership. It was the 3rd in a series of 4 seminars which make up the Henry Crown Fellowship program. The readings, my new Global classmates and my current Henry Crown 2016 class left me inspired. Before the week was over, my mind was made up. I was going to show the kids the world, in an effort to connect with them, "pop their bubble" and make an impact at their formative ages of 14 and 11.
My husband, Jeff, was not so sure. His response: Just because I am scared, doesn't mean that I am not supportive. That was all that I needed to hear. So we un-enrolled our son, Q, and daughter, Amelia, from the 8th and 5th grade.
This is the story of our journey.
